I wasn't sure what to expect from Estonian food but it was pretty easy to find a recipe that appealed to me.
The steak in this dish is pounded thin, pan-seared and served with a sour cream gravy sauce and sautéed onions. And it's delicious! It wasn't difficult to make, the ingredients were easy to get, and it made a nice meal for a chilly night.
Because dairy and I have a complicated relationship, I used vegan butter and Tofutti Better Than Sour Cream and it was really good. I can only imagine how amazing it would be with the actual dairy ingredients.
I ate it with warm French bread and carrots but I'm going to have the leftovers with mashed potatoes and green beans for dinner tonight.
I would definitely make this again!
